jerry has asked me to blog about something musical, so here goes: remember meneguar? the band that released that ep which featured the song "house of cats" which my brother/hmr overlord delightfully tried to force feed to anyone who would listen? well they will return in september with their first(?) full length "strangers in our house." and if their preview songs are any indication, it will be worth your time.
even though post-punk is probably one of the most played out sounds in indie music, (les savy fav, plastic constellations, millions of others) that doesn't mean a few more worthy albums shouldn't go unheralded. where is the support for these bands? why did despistado have to break up? some things will never be explained. in summation, listen to meneguar.

and just for fun, check out defunct punk rock band lanemeyer from new jersey. they wrote catchy songs in their short tenure, and even played at show in traverse city with the burgeoning lawrence arms, who any contemporary will tell you is "punk as fuck." shoulda signed those guys when you had the chance jer.

and the new weakerthans and band of horses are just around the corner. there is much to look forward to this fall.
